EmberHearth Ragdolls is CO-owned by Micayla D. Ash and Cynthia M. Roberts

Although the beauty of the Ragdoll cat was the first thing that caught our eye the decision to breed these cats was based not only on their beauty but the other attributes of this breed as well. More than a year was spent in researching the Ragdoll as well as several other breeds of cats. Our goal was to determine the overall health, genetic stability and temperament of these cats. The entire cat had to be our first consideration in implementing a breeding program. We were looking for a breed that was not only pleasing to the eye and healthy but, one that would easily become a member of our families as well. The Ragdoll has surpassed all the criteria we were looking for.

Ragdoll Cats were first introduced by the breed originator, Ann Baker of Bakersfield, California. Even though the breed originated some thirty years ago, they are still considered a "new breed". The stories surrounding the Ragdolls beginnings range from the strange to the bizarre, however one thing is certain, Ann Baker through her endeavors has given the world a precious and loving gift, these incredible cats and to her we are truly grateful.

Some of the unique characteristics of the breed are their ability to go limp when picked up, hence the name Ragdoll. Their gentle relaxed nature and the knack to blend well with all family members both of the human and non-human variety.

The Ragdoll's coat is semi-long, non-matting and plush, with a feel similar to rabbit's fur. Ragdolls come in a variety of colors and patterns. Currently at EmberHearth, we offer seal, blue and flame in color point, mitted, bicolor, lynx and tortie patterns. Their gorgeous blue eyes will steal your heart away. Their soft, cooing voice will enchant you. As a companion cat the Ragdoll is unsurpassed in beauty and devotion.
