Emberhearth began as a dream... a lot of research into different breeds took place before we decided to work with the Ragdoll's. Health, temperament and beauty were of the utmost importance in selecting a particular breed to work with. The Ragdoll combines all the qualities we were searching for. Over a decade later we have never question our decision to work with this fantastic breed... they have met and surpassed all of our expectations!
One Emberhearth dream has spun yet another... It has been a passionate dream of Micayla's for years to work with a line of cats wrapped in a beautiful coat of Chocolate... Micayla is a true "Chocoholic" in ever sense of the word!
Years ago Micayla was the first breeder in the United States to introduce a very rare breed of cat called the Chantilly/Tiffany... Coming to the States by way of Canada, Mica (a beautiful little female) was the first Chantilly/Tiffany acquired to begin her chocolate program... Mica's was named by her Breeder Traci Oras... a play on Micayla and Made In CAnada. Micayla worked with her beloved Chocolate Chantilly/Tiffany's for many years... however the program was a heartbreaking disappointment... Without going into great detail, the Chantilly/Tiffany program worked with setting type (a consistent look for the breed) and valiantly tried to correct serious health issues within the breed... Keeping type by way of line breeding is an acceptable practice, however line breeding (half sister to half brother etc.) tends to magnify any problems that may pre-exist. Out-crossing (the introduction of another breed) to expand the gene pool and introduce healthier bloodlines also introduces a "different look" so it's back to setting type again! In the interim babies were born with health issues... hard core breeders would have kept the best of the best and destroyed the rest. Micayla choose to look for loving homes that would openly accept special needs kittens... After five years of working with the breed, Micayla decided to call it quits... while there were successes along the way, the negatives always seemed to out weighed the positive...
While the Chantilly/Tiffany program closed, with much sadness, Micayla's desire to raise a sound, healthy cat wrapped in Chocolate never wavered. After years of dreaming, planning and patients, her dream has become a reality! Emberhearth is extremely pleased to announce "The Chocolates" have arrived... Micayla will be showcasing her Chocolate Dreams... and Lilac Delights on Emberhearth's sister site, Acaramia Ragdolls... if you are a lover of Ragdolls and a person that likes to think outside the box ..."the candy box" that is... please stop by and visit www.Acaramiaragdolls.com
